Summary: The Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control (CFHPC), Sohu Health and BMS jointly launch a nationwide survey of hepatitis B patients in China. According to the survey, antiviral treatment based on nucleoside analogs is the most popular therapy for hepatitis B. "Treatment cost" nets the lowest satisfaction level in the survey. Prof. Zhuang Hui says that antiviral therapy is essential for the treatment of hepatitis B. Long-term therapy will cause drug resistance, which is a big problem for the treatment of hepatitis B. Preventing drug resistance in the initial treatment has become the first choice for patients to avoid serious clinical problems and extra costs. According to the Management of Chronic Hepatitis B Antiviral Resistance and Cost Study announced in June, patients pay more than RMB 4,000 in the first year after drug resistance begins. Drugs with high inhibition of virus and low development of drug resistance are recommended as a top choice for the initial treatment of hepatitis B patients.
