At the 2008 HongKong - Shanghai International Liver Congress held in June 13th, the first survey report
2008.06.16 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Management of Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) Antiviral Resistance– the Asia Experience” was published, which focused on the clinical doctors in Asia. According to this survey result, 99% doctors have encountered the drug resistance problems in their clinic practice of Hepatitis B therapy. HepB drug resistance will cause seriously clinical symptom and bring extra economy and time cost to patients. 77% of Chinese doctors who took part in the survey said that to prevent HepB drug resistance is the first choice of HepB patients. Prof Zhang Xinxin from Shanghai Ruijin Hospital told us that we should choose the right drug at the beginning of the treatment with strong anti-virus and low drug resistant. AS the data announced nowadays,through five years of treatment, the cumulative probability of developing mutations in the virus that confer resistance to Entecavir (also called genotypic resistance) was 1.2%
